Notes from the Producer about the Session written by Cookie , July 02, 2008
This was the second album I produced with Jenna. Like the first record, this recording was live in the studio with the vocals and band being cut simultaneously.
Running to Stand Still is a mesmerizing version of the U2 song with cloudlike background vocals, intense electric guitar (Andre Bush) melting into the English Horn (Paul McCandless) and all the passion of the first take of the first day of the recording session.
Another favorite of mine is the James Taylor cover, You Can Close Your Eyes. It's a duo with Matt Rollings on piano, cut live. I have a vivid memory of the control room the day we recorded, with her family in the back of the room. We all cried as Jenna and Matt played.
I'd like to know what your favorite songs are from the album, or, if you were in the sessions, write a comment about your memories. It was a wonderful moment in the studio.
